We talked about this passage on Sunday and it came up in the daily office again today. And, although I may be wrong, I get this sense that this passage may not be talking about the second coming so much as the ways that God is bringing his kingdom here, now. Could it be a call to keep watch for the moment that the Father begins to move, those little points where the Kingdom breaks in? Be awake, keep watch. Keep your hands in the Father's business and out of the schemes of the world, this system of false security in money and power and manipulation. Maybe. Just a thought.
